A Bear-y Prolonged Photograph

The effects in the photograph were achieved using a technique called light painting. By increasing the amount of time that the camera lens is exposed to light,  it is possible to create streaks of light with a suitable light source. After all,  any source of light will get picked up by the exposed camera sensor,  so a moving source of light will continuously be exposed and registered as a "streak". A moving,  flashing light could then only be a "dotted streak",  as seen in some of the effects closest to Benny the Bear.          It is also important to limit the amount of light that is being captured by the sensor. The primary way to do this would be shooting in a dark place,  but even the light source one "paints" with could muddy up the painting by flooding it with too much light. The f-stop on the camera controls the amount of light that enters the sensor by artificially dilating a ring in front of the sensor that works similarly to the iris in the eye.           It's an excellent demonstration of how what we see is only what light reflects. Even though my hand was holding the light source the entire time,  only the light was visible because I didn't let the light reflect on my hand. Conversely,  Benny the Bear was captured well with the moving light closest to him,  reflecting his magnificence in entirety.
