Veiling Glare and Ghosting

What can you see in the photo? Sunlight pierces interspaces between leaves and branches. Trees at the other side of the shore block the sunlight and project their shadows on the lake. However,  if you observe the photo closely enough,  you can find that the sun is surrounded by a white halo and a green arc like a ghost located at the right of the photo. The halo's official name  is veiling glare and the "ghost" is known as ghosting in photography,  both of them can be found in photos that diverge from the light source. Although 2 phenomenons are located at different positions in 1 photo,  they are formed because of reflections in the camera. The camera is mainly formed by cover glass,  lens,  IR-filter and sensor. The reflections between different parts of the camera lead to different colors and shapes of vailing glares and ghosting. For example,  the green ghosting appearing in my photo is due to reflection between the cover glass and lens. Other factors like dust in the camera and the focal length can also influence the veiling glare and ghosting. Dusts can reflect lights in the camera and thus increase veiling glares and ghostings in the photo. The longer the focal length,  the larger the light source in the photo,  and more obvious the veiling glare and ghosting. All in all,  the reflection between different parts of the camera is the factor of the formation of veiling glare and ghosting.
