School: san jose de las vegas With each page turned, I savored the intoxicating scent of a freshly purchased book, a scent that embodies knowledge and curiosity. That day, I encountered one of the most enchanting tales ever told: the story of Narcissus, and more intriguingly, the lake. We are all familiar with the tale of the gorgeous young man who admired his reflection daily by the lake's edge. However, I find the narrative of the lake far more compelling. In fact, the lake cherished Narcissus's visits. Each time Narcissus knelt beside his banks, he could see, deep in his eyes, his own beauty reflected. This captivating aspect of the lake ignited my fascination with water, leading me to study and photograph it extensively. This particular photo was taken with the intent to capture not just reflections, but an array of beautiful physical phenomena. To begin with, reflection is the redirection of light when it strikes the water's surface, maintaining the same angle of incidence. For an ideal reflection, the medium must be flawlessly smooth, which is why the reflection in this image is imperfect. Another phenomenon observed here is refraction, which occurs when light transitions between different mediums, causing it to bend. This bending is due to the water's chemical composition, where interactions between photons and water molecules alter the light's path, resulting in differing angles of incidence and refraction. This causes the apparent height distortion; my poor father appears dwarfed in this photo because the light changes direction, distorting the image.
