Twisting Bridges? Water Waves!Zilong WangAward: Top 100
School: wuhan britain-china school The development of society leads to different magnificent architecture. Nature often expresses the beauty of architecture in different ways. In this picture, we can see some twisted lines in the middle of the river. This is actually the span wires of the suspension bridge across the river. The wind that causes the disequilibrium of the water surface leads to the waves. As the lake can be considered to be made up of an infinite number of "mirrors". When we stand on the shore of the lake and look at the lake, the light reflects more on the "mirrors" where we stand, and it will be clearer in our vision; On the other hand, if more "mirrors" reflect light in other directions, then the "mirrors" will be relatively blurred in our field of view. This explains why the surface of the river in the middle of the picture is much clearer than the surface in other areas, which is also why we can see clearer reflection of the span wires. However, if we change the position where we stand, the span wires will not be clear as the relative position of the waves and our changes, the pattern of the span wires will also change. This is the reason why the reflection of the span wire is side-to-side distorted. Nature is always filled with strange but beautiful things, and the surface of this lake that contains a fundamental physics phenomenon is one of them. |
