Mermaid In the Dark------ Rainbow Smoke

To capture this wonderful moment,  I placed a plane mirror at a certain Angle into a basin filled with water. Because the wavelengths of light of different colors are different,  through the dispersion of light,  the prism formed by the water surface and the plane mirror can decompose the composite light into light of different colors. Then light a cigarette. The micron-sized particles in the smoke have wavelengths similar to visible light and can strongly scatter colored light. After the colored light enters the smoke,  it is uniformly reflected in all directions by the smoke particles,  allowing us to see the colored light path from any Angle. That's why we can see the colored smoke. The smoke causes the originally invisible light path to pass through Mie scattering and transform into a colorful "rainbow smoke".

However,  the experiment did not go particularly smoothly. During the experiment,  problems such as the light color not being obvious,  the smoke being too small,  and the smoke distribution being too chaotic occurred. I also solved these problems by using a darker background,  a larger fragrance when necessary,  and continuous shooting. Eventually,  I used a high-speed shutter and a large aperture to draw on a black screen that the colorful smoke condensed into a mermaid and a jellyfish with light and stretched tentpaws on the seabed. It seems as if life is dancing in the laws of physics
