Glass Tears
Although condensation is something people see almost every day, it represents an important concept in thermodynamics and phase transitions. When the temperature of the glass drops below the dew point of the surrounding air, water vapor in the air loses thermal energy and changes from a gas into liquid water. The tiny droplets visible on the glass are the direct result of this transfer of heat energy between the warm air and the cold surface. I chose to photograph condensation because it demonstrates how physics exists in ordinary moments that are often overlooked. The image emphasizes texture and detail, allowing the droplets to appear almost frozen in time. The cool blue tones and soft lighting create a calm atmosphere while also reinforcing the idea of temperature and energy exchange. The blurred outdoor background contrasts with the sharply focused droplets, drawing attention to the physical process occurring on the glass itself. This image represents the connection between science and art. Physics is frequently associated with equations and calculations, but it also explains the visual beauty found in everyday life. Through this photograph, I wanted to show that even a simple glass of ice water can reveal the invisible interactions of heat, matter, and energy constantly happening around us.
